Tasting note

The cork was saturated and broke in half, ultimately requiring it to be pushed into the bottle; the red wine was consequently decanted. The cherry-red appearance surprised me, though the hue showed signs of browning towards the rim. The bouquet was initially uninviting, described best as "musty cellar". However, this dissipated after a few minutes. Balsamic notes — unsurprising given the age — nonetheless mingled with a cherry fruit character, accompanied by a sweetish note of cherry cola. Otherwise, rather dried out, which was confirmed on the palate. The bottle should likely have been consumed twenty years ago. No rating.
