Langhe DOC Extensive appellation south of the town of Alba in Piedmont. Around 1,400 hectares of vineyards. In addition to single-varietal wines, in which at least 85% of the specified grape variety must be used, generic white wines (Bianco) and red wines (Rosso) are also produced. For these, there are no strict requirements for the cuvée. There are sweet versions of both Bianco and Rosso, which are called Passito. The Langhe DOC is typically used for the somewhat lower qualities than the more narrowly defined appellations with which the Langhe DOC overlaps, such as Baberba d'Alba DOC, Nebbiolo DOC or even Barbaresco DOCG and Barolo DOCG. |
