Today, I was at Maison Champy in the town of Beaune for a tour of their cellar and a brief dégustation. I didn’t take notes during the tasting, so these are just some quick thoughts on the wines as I remember them.
Very complex though probably far too young. Stony minerality, floral notes and a tad reductive (in the form of matches) with wood spice in the back. Provisional points 15-17, but I’d lay this down until 2028 or so.
Drink from 2028 through 2035.

15Wines with a DM13 to DM16 rating are excellent wines. They have harmony and a character of their own that makes them stand out. These wines offer a high level of depth and complexity. They are clearly an enrichment for every wine cellar. / 20 ("excellent") |
