Tasting note

Having recently tasted another wine from Lidl’s range, today I am tasting the Markus Molitor “Composition M” from the 2021 vintage. In the past, I had already tasted a similar edition by Markus Molitor, namely the “Cuvée Maximilian” for Mövenpick.

Light, transparent colour. Initially somewhat restrained on the nose, discreetly fruity and reminiscent of peach, also somewhat floral. In the mouth, slender with a contained acidity. This is obviously meant to be accessible and suitable for the masses. The exact composition of the cuvée remains a secret, at least it is not stated on the label, but I suspect Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Müller-Thurgau. A little sweetness on the palate, white fruit. The finish, however, is short. What remains is a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. (In this respect, the Composition M unfortunately reminds me of the Weißburgunder edition by Dreissigacker for the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten). Certainly not a repeat purchase, DM83.
