2020 Martin Waßmer Markgräflerland Riesling Kabinett trocken "Kalkstein"

Tasting note

2020 Martin Waßmer Markgräflerland Riesling Kabinett trocken "Kalkstein"

Medium lemon in colour. An expressive, aromatic Riesling nose of moderate intensity with a subtly sweet impression, showing stone fruit, ripe lemon, and fragrant white florals interspersed with a touch of hay, alongside a distinct, albeit understated, calcareous-chalky minerality. The palate is yellow-fruit driven with prominent ripe lemon; succulent and medium to full-bodied for a Riesling Kabinett. Medium alcohol manifests as a slight warmth on the finish. Identifiable as Baden and typical of the 2020 vintage, it nevertheless lacks profound depth on the palate. While the finish remains pleasantly juicy and citrus-forward, it concludes with a slightly warm aftertaste. Good typicity and sound acidity, though somewhat broad overall.

Drink through 2027.
