2022 Tolaini Picconero

Tasting note

Deep, elegant purple. The bouquet is intense and multi-layered, displaying fresh tobacco leaves alongside prominent, well-integrated oak-derived vanilla. Robust and inviting, it features a wealth of red fruit—strawberry, raspberry, and cherry—complemented by herbal hints of dill. On the palate, the wine is highly astringent and youthful, underpinned by vibrant fruit and medium acidity. Flavours of cherry, plum, and strawberry are evident, alongside a touch of liquorice, leading to a long-lasting finish. Truly excellent; one can only wonder what complexity might have been achieved had Cabernet Franc not been omitted from 2018 onwards. Nevertheless, top-tier.

Drink from 2028 through 2040.
