Spring has finally arrived, the grass begins to grow and the first flowers have appeared. What will the second quarter bring in terms of wine tastings? First of all, you may have noticed that I had scheduled a Ch. Citran tasting for March, which didn't happen. Sorry about that, but I hope the Pio Cesare masterclass tasting made up for it. There was simply too much going on in March. So I decided to push that tasting into the second quarter.
I'm in the mood for more white wine again with sunshine and warmer temperatures outside. For that reason, I'm going to have a look at a trio of dry matured Rieslings from the Rheingau: 2011 August Kesseler Lorcher Schlossberg Spätlese trocken, 2013 August Kesseler Rüdesheim, and 2017 Prinz Hallgartener Frühernberg.
Then, I'm going to catch up on the Château Citran vertical tasting originally planned for March. I managed to purchase the 2015 vintage in the meantime, so I'll be tasting 2004, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The mid-year in between spring and summer is a nice time for Burgundy, a mixed bag: 2017 Marc Colin Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "En Rémilly", 2021 Maison Champy Meursault, 2022 Domaine AMI A-MIAMI VICE.
As always, other wines will likely make an appearance, too. I look forward to the next three months of wine tastings. If you have a request and a suggestion, please contact me via the details below. Thank you for sticking around!
