[...] This is both an example of a company that does not understand the importance of a complete domain name portfolio and yet another example of why domain investors are having a hard time changing the image of their industry to the better. [...]

While I don't like to pick on any one person this is a shining example of how to piss trademark holders off. Individuals that participate in trafficsquatting should pay towards cleaning this mess up. It gives generic domain holders a bad name and lumps us in with this type of activity.
Clean it up please Dr.Ham.

Because there are a few laywers who are ambulance chasing, lying, cheating, scumbags, that means they all are right ? I also heard a phrase before about educators : "Those who can't, teach". That must be true and include all professors too (right Mr. Goldman ?)

Dominik,

I completely concur. While domain tasting is a problem, it is by no means common among all domainers. Eric Goldman shows how shallow his depth of knowledge is of our industry.

I would also like to point out the other side of the coin.

I recently received a email from Sedo.com informing me that my parking privileges for one of my domains was rescinded because the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had filed a trademark infringement complaint against me for the domain...

OlympiaNewCars.com

I have contacted the IOC and still no response.

Really guys? Is there no one with common sense in the IOC legal department? Specifically James Bikoff and David Heasley who are heading up the IOC's In Rem lawsuit.

I am probably going to have to spend my time and money to get back privileges they were able to hijack. While this kind of sweeping, unfettered litigation is growing among large corporations, I would not say it is 'common.'

The full email string is here.

Thanks, Dominik, for defending the domain industry against misconception and for all your educational and informative posts.
