As of now, I will be using FireFox

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

FireFox 3I’ve always been a user and supporter of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. In fact, I’ve thought that it is a good product (I still do so). But after installing the latest version of Mozilla FireFox on my computer yesterday, all I can say is this:

FireFox 3 is just better. I think that it is the best browser currently available.

It is much faster than version 2, at least that’s been my impression. It also offers an improved intelligent address bar that makes navigating to visited websites faster. On top of that, you can still upgrade FireFox by installing useful add-ons and plug-ins.

After all, I can recommend FireFox 3 to anybody who enjoys surfing on the web. But I also have a question for those long-time FireFox users of you:

Which are good add-ons or plug-ins you’re using and that you can recommend? Currently, I have the following add-ons installed:

  • ColorfulTabs
  • DownThemAll!
  • Firebug
  • FireGestures (only installed, not used yet)
  • Flagfox
  • LinkedIn Companion for FireFox
  • PicLens
  • Web Developer
  • YSlow

Looking forward to your recommendations! :)

Welcome to the dark side! I love firefox!

You got to check out these addons I use all the time…

    FireShot
    MeasureIt
    ColorDropper
    Gmail Manager
    CoLT

Also IE View and MeasureIt are good

IE view lets you open pages in IE.

Measure is a little app that lets you measure the sizes of graphics or tables.

I’ve used Firefox for a long time. Mine is tricked out with a load of add-ons, so I will be holding off on ff3 until my add-ons become available there.

    My add-ons:

Restarter - adds an option to restart firefox while keeping all your tabs (I usually have 200-250 tabs open). This is a great feature when you need to ‘reboot’ firefox when it begins eating too much memory

    Fasterfox - Makes firefox… faster.

NoScript - This pretty much asks for your permission for everything. It prevents popups and browser hijackings. Love this add-on.

PDF Download - Combine this with PDF-XChange and you can stop hating PDFs!

Screen Grab - captures screenshots, even custom sized ones.

Smart Pagerank Toolbar - Essential for domainers. Shows PR and Alexa, but I like the “Valuate” option as it shows waybackmachine, backlinks and indexed pages for sites. Also acts as a whois. Best of all: you can MOVE the toolbar onto another toolbar to save space.

Tab Mix Plus - best add-on to manage/customize your tabs.

Torrent Finder Toolbar - searches loads of torrent sites.

Download Statusbar - turns the useless space at bottom of browser into a download center.

Delicious Bookmarks - Name says it all.

Rich Click Link - opens links in new tabs when you right click them.

SEOpen - The toolbar has google, msn, yahoo and alexa options to search for backlinks and indexed pages.

Smart Bookmarks Bar - Takes my bookmarks and turns them into icons so I can fit 60+ bookmarks on my browsers face. Yes, 60+.

I also have some add-ons that firefox doesn’t actually list, like:

When you highlight a word in your browser and then right click, you get the option to open it as a website or search google (one of these is a vanilla option). I use the website one a lot. If I see a word or words, I can highlight them and open it immediately to see if they are registered. This even does multiple words; it will take out the spaces and add a .com to the end.

I have a few others as well. With my blog and domaining, I actually use all these add-ons quite often. So I will reluctantly hold off on ff3 until most of these are available.

Thanks for your comments, everybody! I’ve just installed MeasureIt, CoLT, Gmail Manager and ScreenGrab. I’ll try out some of your other suggestions soon.
