Visa has recently launched their mobile platform and it looks like they are now going to build an even better foundation for mobile Visa credit card payments.

Beside the nice .mobi domain sales, domain investors see this as another proof that .mobi will be accepted as the dominating TLD for mobile devices, despite the fact that mobile phones and PDAs can now access “normal” websites under .com and other extensions, too.

Normal phones and PDAs can access “normal” websites under the .com extensions, but why don’t 99% of them resolve if that’s the case?
I have tried surfing on the Internet using Nokia’s E61 and N800, and it worked just fine.
the n800 makes you scroll back and forth for most web sites. Otherwise the font is really small. (This is an awesome device tho)
The E61 like a blackberry just crams everything down and reorganizes it which works sometimes but it’s hard to navigate.
But as I said, it works. And as mobile devices get better it will be easier and more convenient to browse standard web sites. Of course, .mobi might become popular for mobile-only sites, but I still doubt it will displace .com on mobile phones, smartphones, pocket pcs, tablet pcs, etc.
I agree with you on that.
