Amazon.com’s web services Alexa.com and A9.com are no longer powered by Google, but by Microsoft’s new Windows Live web portal (Live.com). It seems like Amazon and Microsoft are finally becoming serious about taking market shares away from Google.

After all, this has not been a totally surprising step though; with Google getting more powerful every day more and more companies are seeing Google as a threat and they are going to join forces in order to defend against Google. Maybe Amazon even decided to go away from Google due to the new Base service the search engine giant is publicly testing as beta version at the moment. Once that service will be officially launched Google will be a direct competitor of online marketplaces like Amazon and eBay, especially in combination with the company’s shopping site, called Froogle.com. eBay (who also operates the online payment service PayPal.com) had already been looking for strategic partners few months ago after Google had announced both Google Base and an own payment service which is currently in the making, too.

Thus, Google might soon get issues acquiring strong partners, since lots of companies are afraid Google could gain an all-powerful Internet monopoly.
